RingSphereTM is based on an "N-tier" architecture, with monitoring appliances positioned at critical points within an organization's network. Information gathered from appliances throughout the network is automatically replicated to one or more central sites, to provide an enterprise-wide view. RingSphereTM easily supports the use of firewalls or address translation (i.e., private addressing) at distributed sites.
The RingSphereTM solution utilizes a series of modules for the collection of data. This modular approach allows RingSphereTM to be adapted easily to a variety of applications outside the conventional network infrastructure, and making it considerably more flexible than traditional network monitoring solutions. For example, HCS uses RingSphereTM within its Voice over IP Readiness Assessment and Management (RAM) service. Through these services, HCS helps organizations determine if their network infrastructure is prepared for the additional requirements of a Voice IP (VoIP) solution. HCS determines VoIP bandwidth requirements based on actual phone calls from legacy phone systems through the flexibility of RingSphere.
